SoundCloud rolls out verification badges to top artists

SoundCloud is trying to make sure that people notice well-known artists easily by rolling out verified badges.

The company announced that SoundCloud official blue checkmarks will not show up in search and on profiles of verified creators.

This has been done to help well-known artists to stand out and maintain their authenticity. On the hand it will help listeners "identify these artists more easily" says SoundCloud.

The orange Pro star badges also now live exclusively on the profiles of Pro subscribers. Pro badges were misused or misinterpreted as verification. SoundCloud says the "official blue checkmarks will help eliminate that confusion."

Some well-known artists have already had blue badges including Billie Eilish, Wiz Khalifa, and Trippie Redd.

If you're a creator and you would like to get your account verified on SoundCloud upon request your account should meet the following requirements. It should represent a well-known or highly searched for artist, collective, DJ, label, curator or podcaster. You can watch the rest of the requirements here
