Apple Event: iPhone 12 and More

Apple has announced its new products at its "Hi, Speed" Apple event. Amongst the new products and features includes the new HomePod Mini, iPhone 12, and 5G.

To begin the Event Apple announced the new HomePod Mini

HomePod Mini

Apple introduced the newest addition to the HomePod family. The new HomePod Mini. This smart speaker looks great wrapped in a beautiful seamless mesh fabric.

On top of the HomePod mini is a backlit surface that provides controls for volume, play, pause and it illuminates when you call out Siri. The speaker has "Amazing Sound, Intelligent Assistant, Smart Home, Privacy and Security" says Apple

The speaker delivers an acoustic wave of 360 degrees drive. It runs an Apple S5 chip. The speaker supports Apple Music, TuneIn, and many more to come like Amazon Music.

You can search a song by lyrics and just ask Siri. It has a feature called intercom where you can broadcast a message to everyone in the house from your iPhone. The speaker comes in two colors which are white and space grey starts at $99.00 and you can start ordering on November 16.

iPhone 12

For the first time, the iPhone now has 5G. The iPhone 12 now has a new design, smooth and flat edges, and the new position of antennas. The iPhone 12 comes in new colors, black, white, product red, green, and then gorgeous blue.

The iPhone 12 has a 6.1-inch display and "11% thinner, 15% smaller, and 16% lighter than the iPhone 11" says Apple. iPhone 12 now has a new Super Retina XDR display custom OLED.

Apple says the new OLED display has a higher resolution and has 2x as many pixels than the iPhone 11. The cover glass on the iPhone 12 is called Ceramic Shield which improves toughness and is optically clear.

The iPhone 12 has "the most 5G bands of any smartphone" Apple wrote on the screen during the presentation. This to make it work in 5G and other places than any other smartphone. Apps can get more speeds by benefiting from 5G on the iPhone 12.

The phone has been made smarter with Smart Data Mode, when your iPhone 12 does not need 5G speeds it will automatically switch to use LTE to save battery. When the need to use 5G comes it will switch to use 5G. 5G speeds will vary by regions and carriers, while testing, it has reached up to 4GB/second internet speeds in ideal conditions.

The iPhone 12 runs the new A14 Bionic chip which Apple says the chip is the first smartphone in the world to be built on a 5nm process technology. You will be able to play League of Legends Wild Rift on the iPhone 12.

The iPhone 12 has a dual-camera system at the back of the phone. It has an Ultra-Wide camera and a new wide camera. Night mode on the new iPhone gets even better and gets to all cameras on the iPhone 12. For the first time on the Ultra-Wide camera and front true depth camera.

The video quality for the iPhone 12 has improved with Night mode Time-lapse being added to it. The iPhone 12 will start at $799. iPhone 12 will be available for pre-order on November 6 and will begin shipping on November 13, 2020.

MagSafe for iPhone

MagSafe is an advanced new system it improves the wireless charging experience. It supports up to 15W for charging wirelessly, with magnets at the back of the iPhone 12. A new ecosystem has been enabled. With all-new silicon cases for iPhone 12.

Like the leather case and silicon case with magnets which makes it easy to snap on and off. You can use other MagSafe accessories on top of the cases like the MagSafe charger. There is also the MagSafe wallet which just snaps at the back of the iPhone and also works on top of MagSafe cases.

There is the new MagSafe dual charger for the iPhone and Apple watch. You can charge both devices on one charger and is easy to fold when you want to travel.

The iPhone 12 won't come with a charging brick included in the box. A USB-C to lightning cable will be included though. No earphones too. The box is now small and lighter.

iPhone 12 Mini

It has the same Super Retina XDR display as the iPhone 12. It's smaller and lighter with a 5.4-inch display. It has the same features as the iPhone 12 like 5G, Ceramic Shield, A14 Bionic Chip, Dual-camera system, and MagSafe. All the same just that it's smaller.

Apple says the iPhone 12 mini is " the smallest, thinnest, lightest 5G phone in the world." The iPhone 12 mini will start at $699 and will be available for pre-order on November 6 and will begin shipping on November 13, 2020.

iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max

The iPhone 12 Pro comes in 4 colors which are silver, graphite, gold, and an all-new pacific blue. They also feature Ceramic Shield just like the iPhone 12. iPhone 12 Pro has IP68 water and dust resistance.

The iPhone 12 Pro has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display and the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch display. The Pro models also have the A14 Bionic chip.

The iPhone 12 Pro features a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera and a new 12MP wide camera. It also features a 12MP telephoto. The iPhone 12 Pro Max has a 12MP telephoto camera and a 65mm lens. The Pro Max has a new sensor on the 12MP wide camera.

There is a new feature for Pro's which will come later this year called Apple ProRaw which will be available on the Pro camera app. It will provide smart HDR and Deep fusion and combine them to give a raw format.

The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max will now have a feature to record 10-bit HDR video recording and also to record in Dolby Vision HDR. The Pro range will have the LiDAR scanner which will help in autofocus in low light scenes for clear pictures and videos. It will improve night mode shots.

The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max also have 5G like the iPhone 12. The iPhone 12 Pro will start at $999 and the iPhone 12 Pro Max will start at $1099.

The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will be available for pre-order this Friday, October 16, and available next week on October 23. You can watch the event if you missed it yesterday right here
